Gender inequalities in the world: Women’s rights in the USA

“So, in the United States, women generally earn even less money because they are expected to take care of children and housework in addition to their careers. Women are less likely to get promotions, that kind of things. I think the situation would improve if childcare services were more accessible and if men took on more responsibilities at home. In addition, in some parts of the country, such as the south where I grew up, teenage pregnancies are very frequent and lead girls to drop out of school or not be able to go to university. In the United States, when teenage girls become pregnant, it is very common for the father to be an adult, not another teenager. A close friend of mine dropped out of high school at the age of 15 when a 35-year-old man got her pregnant. So, I would say that it is very important for girls in America to have better sex education and birth control so that they can complete their studies without getting pregnant. We do not have guaranteed maternity leave and you must work to qualify for health insurance. So, I think the situation for women in America will be bad until we have universal health care, maternity leave, better working conditions and social support for women who do not have enough money to leave their abusive partners.”
